HONDA BAYn saarikierros kolmelle eri saarelle veneellä Palawanin edustalla Filippiineillä

Retkemme alkoi jo aamuvarhaisella klo 7.30, jolloin meille oli ilmoitettu noudosta hotellilta. Olin pyytänyt hotelliltamme jo päivää aikaisemmin, että saisimme vaihtaa huoneen yläkertaan maatasosta. Halusin parvekkeelisen huoneen ja se oli luvattu meille täksi päiväksi. Kun aamulla kävin kysymässä asiasta niin hotellivirkailija sanoi, että meidän tulisi tehdä vaihto nyt kun nykyinen huoneemme tulisi siivota ja sitten luovuttaa uusille majoittujille. Ei muuta kun vauhdilla keräämään tavaroita kasaan ja laittamaan tavarat laukkuihin ennen retkelle lähtöä.  En kyllä ole koskaan laittanut tavaroitani sellaisella vauhdilla kasaan. Aikaa ei ollut kuin muutamia minuutteja, sillä retkiauto oli tulossa millä sekunnilla hyvänsä. No saimme tavarat kasaan juuri ennen retken alkua. 

Retkiautossa oli mukana nuori ranskalaispari. Kaksi 19 vuotiasta nuorta, sitten oli mukana iso filippiiniläisperhe. Perheeseen kuului mummo, hänen lapsensa ja 2 lastenlasta. Yhteensä heitä oli 8 henkeä. Meille oli paikat auton perältä viimeisestä penkkirivistä.

Matka pääsi alkuun ja matkan varrelta poimimme mukaan vielä oppaamme. Hän tuntui näin aamutuimaan hiukan ylipirteältä ja nauroi omille jutuilleen. Hän kertoi, että satamaan on matkaa noin 15 minuuttia ja sieltä lähtisimme sitten kohti saaria. Sitä ennen kävimme listaamassa henkilöwtietomme paperiin ja samalla oli mahdollisuus vuokrata vesikengät (ei räpylät)  ja snorkkelit. 

Satamaan saavuttuamme jouduimme odottamaan hetken venettämme. Se oli noin 15 hengen kuljetukseen soveltuva tyypillinen filippiiniläinen vene. 

Ensimmäinen saari oli  STARFISH island. Olen ollut tällä saarikierrosretkellä pari kertaa aikaisemminkin, joten saaret ovat minulle jo entuudestaan tuttuja. Syy menoon olikin se, että halusin näyttää ne ystävälleni. Tämä saari on ollut aikaisemmin vailla kunnon rakennuksia, mutta nyt sinne oli tulossa betonista valettu kunnon kestävä rakennus, olisiko peräti pieni hotelli, vaiko vain suurempi myymälä. Se jäi epäselväksi.  Saarella oli mahdollisuus käydä uimassa ja koska aurinkokin pilkahti niin ottaa myös aurinkoa.

Seuraavana oli vuorossa LULI saari. Saari on pitkulaisen muotoinen ja saarella ei ole puita. Vain pitkä hiekkadyyni meressä ja muutamia rakennuksia kuten ravintola, snack paikka ja baari. 

 

Viimeisenä saaren kierroksella oli COWRIE saari. Tällä saarella meillä vihdoin oli lounas. Kyllähän sitä olikin jo ehtinyt tulla nälkä. Katselin kuinka ihmiset ahmivat valtavia määriä simpukoita lautasillensa. Itse en välitä simpukoista, vaan tyydyin grillattuun porsaaseen, pastaan ja riisiin. Tarjolla oli myös kalaa ja paljon muutakin syötävää seisovasta noutopöydästä. Sai syödä niin paljon kuin jaksoi ja samalla lailla täälläkin paikalliset ihmiset ahmivat lautaset täyteen ruokaa ja hakivat monta kertaa lisää koko rahan edestä. 

Ryhmällemme oli varattu tälläinen katoksellinen lepopaikka ja varjo. Se täällä Filippiineillä on jännä, että vaikka on pilvistä niin ruskettuu pilvien läpi ja on yhtä kuuma kuin aurinko paistaisi suoraan. Tämän petollisuuden vuoksi minunkin iho on punoittanut kun en ole muistanut aina laittaa aurinkovoidetta riittävän usein. 

Pääsin taas tälläkin lomalla seuraamaan suoraa kosintaa! Hassua, että joka lomalla törmään kosintoihin, häihin ja kerran olin jopa ystäväni sukulaisen hautajaisissa. Tunsin tämän henkilön ja siksi menin mukaan niihin hautajaisiin. 

Oli hauska nähdä minkä tunnekuohun täällä paikallisissa kosinta saa aikaan. Paikalliset ovat aina hurmioituneena katsoneet kosintaa ja ottaneet osaa siihen riemuiten. 

Olen vieraillut kolmen vuoden aikana Filippiineillä lähes 10 kertaa. (viime vuonnakin kolme kertaa noin 3 kk yhteensä) Tänä aikana olen päässyt tutustumaan tavallisten perheiden arkeen ja nähnyt paljon muitakin paikkoja kuin vain ne tyypilliset turistipaikat. Sen perusteella voin sanoa, ettei ole lainkaan kaukaa haettua se, että tämä kansa vaikuttaa tosi onnelliselta kansalta. Vaikka heillä ei ole materiaalisesti kaikkea mitä meillä lännessä, niin he osaavat olla onnellisia pienistä arkisista asioista. Täällä on paljon juhlia, joihin useimmat ottavat osaa. Se antaa arkeen piristystä ja saa arkiset huolet heiltä unohduksiin. Meillä on paljon opittavaa siitä, että miten osaisimme iloita pienistä asioista.

Our trip started early in the morning at 7.30, when we were notified of the pick-up from the hotel. I had asked our hotel a day earlier that we could change the room upstairs from the ground floor. I wanted a balcony room and it was promised to us this day. When I was in the morning asking about this, the hotel clerk said we should do the exchange now when our current room should be cleaned and then handed over to new guests. It does not change when you pick up the goods and put the goods on the bags before going to the excursion. I have never put my goods at such a pace. It was only a few minutes since the retirement car was coming in for seconds. Well, we got the goods just before the start of the tour.

There was a young French couple in the car. Two 19-year-old young people, then there was a large Philippine family. The family included grandma, her children and 2 grandchildren. There were 8 people in total. We had seats from the bottom of the queue.

The trip reached the top and along the way we picked up our guide. He felt like a little overwhelming in the morning and laughed at his own stories. He told us that the port is about 15 minutes away and then we headed for the islands. Before that, we went on listing our personal information on paper and at the same time had the opportunity to rent water shoes (no flippers) and snorkels.

When we arrived at the harbor we had to wait for a moment for our boat. It was a typical Filipino boat suitable for transporting about 15 people.

The first island was STARFISH island. I've been on this island round trip a couple of times before, so the islands are already familiar to me. The reason for the move was that I wanted to show them to my friend. This island has previously been without good buildings, but now it was coming from a concrete-molded, durable building, whether it was a small hotel or just a bigger store. It was unclear. The island had the opportunity to swim and because the sun was soaring and so did the sun.

Next was the LULI island. The island is elongated and the island has no trees. Only a long sand dune in the ocean and a few buildings such as a restaurant, a snack place and a bar.

The last island round was the COWRIE island. On this island we finally had lunch. Well, that had already become hungry. I watched people crowd huge amounts of bivalves on their plates. I do not care about mussels, but I'm happy with grilled pork, pasta and rice. There was also fish and lots of other edible standing buffet too. He got to eat as much as he did, and at the same time local people liked the plates to fill their food and took many times for the whole money.

Our group was busy with this canopy resting place and shadow. It's fine here in the Philippines that even if it's cloudy it's tiny through the clouds and it's as hot as the sun would bake straight. Because of this fraud, my skin has also risen when I have not always remember to put sunscreen enough often.

Again, I went on vacation again to follow the straightness! It's a shame that every vacation is going to collide with the prettiest, the wedding and once I was even a friend of a relative's funeral. I knew this person and that's why I went to those funerals.

It was fun to see what a sense of humor here in the local area. The locals have always been ecstatic, looking at the pride and taking part in it with joy.

I have visited over three years in the Philippines nearly 10 times. (Last year three times in a total of about 3 months) During this period, I have been able to explore the everyday life of ordinary families and seen a lot of other places than just the typical tourist spots. On the basis of this, I can say that it is not at all far-fetched that this people are affected by a really happy people. Even though they have nothing material about everything in the West, they can be happy about small everyday things. There are a lot of celebrations here, most of which take part. It gives rise to daily rejuvenation and gives everyday worries from them to oblivion. We have a lot to learn how to enjoy small things.

Cebun ja Boholin saarten jälkeen oli lentovuorossa lento Palawanin saarelle ja siellä Puerto Princesan kaupunkiin. Tämä on neljäs kerta kun saavun tälle saarelle. Olin viime vuonna kesäkuussa viimeksi täällä. 

Dolce Vita hotelli

Suosikkihotellini tähän asti on ollut Dolce Vita hotelli. Olen ollut hotellissa kolme kertaa aikaisemmin. Tämän kerran jälkeen en ole enää varma tulenko hotelliin uudestaan. Yksi parhaimmista eduista hotellilla on se, että he tarjoavat ilmaisen noutokuljetuksen lentojentältä hotellille ja paluukuljetuksun hotellilta lentokentälle. Tätä etua olen arvostanut. Nyt kuitenkin jouduin pettymään muutamiin seikkoihin tässä hotellissa.  Muihin hotelleihin joihin olen tullut aina uudestaan on vastaanotto hotelleissa ollut paljon parempi. Olin varannut hotellista suiten ( ei vastaa suite tasoa muissa kohteissa verrattuna) ja oletin saavani automaattisesti huoneen yläkerrasta kuten olen aina ennenkin saanut. Nyt saimme huoneen pohjakerroksesta, josta puuttuu parveke ja yläterassi huoneen sisältä. Nettiyhteys ei hotellissa aina toimi moitteettomasti sekä televisiokanavat kaikki eivät näy selkeästi. 

Tänään maanantaina vihdoin saimme huoneemme vaihdettua haluamaani yläkertaan. Aika kovasti sain sanoa kuinka pettynyt olin siihen että minut laitettiin alakerrokseen, vaikka olen cakituiben asiakas ja jo neljättä kertaa hotellissa. No järjestyihän se sitten sen jälkeen kuitenkin. Olemme Dahlia huoneessa, missä olen ollut aina aikaisemminkin kun olen asunut tässä hotellissa. 

Illalla hotellialueella on paljon hyttysiä ja siksi olen aina joutunut pukemaan pitkät housut päälleni. Ruokaillessa on edelleen aina kissat pyörimässä jaloissa ja pyytämässä ruokaa. Lisäksi kun pyysimme lisätyynyt molemmille, oli vastaus ettei heillä ole antaa kuin yksi tyyny kahden sijaan 🙁 

Hyviä puolia hotellissa on sen uima-allas, useimmiten se on rauhallinen ja voi uida rauhassa altaassa. Samoin alueella on paljon viherkasveja, palmuja ja muita puita sekä pensaita. Hotelli ei ole moderni, mutta siinä on oma viehätyksensä. Toisaalta nyt neljännen kerran jälkeen tämä hotelli on niin nähty.

 Ai niin, vielä yksi seikka mikä tässä hotellissa pisti erityisesti silmään on sääntöjen paljous. Huoneessa on vihkonen, jossa on yli kolme sivua ohjeita mitä ei saa tehdä ja mitkä asiat ovat kielletyjä. Onhan säännöt olleet ennenkin, mutta jotenkin tällä kerralla sääntöjen paljous pisti erityisesti silmään. Muissa hotelleissa en ole törmännyt tälläiseen sääntömäärään. Olenhan asunut sadoissa hotelleissa elämäni aikana.  Pidän kuitenkin hotellin ajoittaisesta rauhallisuudesta. Ensi kerralla kuitenkin varmaan jos vielä tulen Palawanille on vuorossa jokin toinen hotelli.

Lisäksi täytyy kehua hotellin ravintolan ruokaa. Kaikki annokset mitä olen syönyt ovat olleet kerrassaan maukkaita. En ulkomailla kovinkaan usein rohkene syödä pihvejä, kun ollut joitain huonoja kokemuksia. Täällä tilasin tänään pippuripihvin ja se oli TODELLA maukas ja hyvä. Pippurikastike oli aivan ihana. Aion kyllä tilata sen joku päivä vielä uudestaan.

After Cebu and Bohol Islands, there was a flight to Palawan Island and there to Puerto Princesa. This is the fourth time I get to this island. I was last here last June.

Dolce Vita hotel

To my favorite hotel so far has been the Dolce Vita hotel. I have been to the hotel three times in the past. This time after I'm no longer sure I'm coming over to the hotel again. One of the best benefits of the hotel is that they offer free pickup from the airport to the hotel and return from the hotel to the airport. This advantage I have appreciated. Now, however, I was disappointed with a few things in this hotel. Other hotels which I have come again and again is the reception of the hotels have been much better. I had booked the hotel suiten (does not match the suite level compared to other sites), and I assumed automatically to get the room upstairs as I have always been in the past. Now we got a room on the ground floor that lacks the balcony and the upper terrace inside the room. The internet connection in the hotel does not always work smoothly and television channels are not all clear.

Today on Monday we finally got our room switched to the upstairs I wanted. I got pretty hard to say how disappointed I was that I was put on the bottom layer, even though I am at the hotel cakituiben customer and for the fourth time. Well, then it's okay then then. We Dahlia room, where I had always in the past when I've stayed at this hotel.

In the evening, the hotel area has a lot of mosquitoes, and that's why I always had to put on long pants on me. Always always have cats rolling in the legs while eating food. In addition, when we asked for additional cushions for both, was the answer they did not have to give as one cushion instead of two 🙁

The best part of the hotel is its swimming pool, mostly it is quiet and can swim in the pool. Likewise, there are many green plants, palm trees and other trees and shrubs. The hotel is not modern but has its own charm. On the other hand, now for the fourth time after this hotel is so seen.

 That way, one more thing that this hotel put in particular in the eye is a lot of rules. The room has a booklet with more than three pages of instructions that can not be done and which things are forbidden. After all, the rules had been there, but somehow this time the rule of thumb was particularly evident in the eye. In other hotels, I have not come across this rule. I've lived in hundreds of hotels during my life. However, I enjoy the occasional tranquility of the hotel. But next time, I guess if I'm still in Palawan, there's another hotel.

In addition, you have to praise the hotel's restaurant's food. All doses of what I've eaten have been absolutely delicious. I often do not often dare to eat steaks when I have had some bad experiences. Here I ordered today the pepper bar and it was TODELLA tasty and good. Pepper sauce was just wonderful. I'm going to order it another day again.
