SUKHOTHAI Thaimaan entinen pääkaupunki täynnä upeaa historiaa

Matka Sukhotain entiseen pääkaupunkiin. Olen käynyt Thaimaassa vuodesta 1995 lähtien kymmeniä kertoja, mutta vasta nyt ensimmäistä kertaa pääsin tutustumaan pohjoiseen Thaimaahan. 

Sukhothai sijaisee Bangkokista pohjoiseen noin reilun 400 km päässä. Lentämällä noin reilun tunnin ja bussilla noin 8 tuntia. Menomatkan teimme lentäen ja Bangkok airways yllätti positiivisesti palveluillaan. He tarjoavat kaikille matkustajilleen loungen palvelut sekä tarjoavat lyhyilläkin lennoilla lämpimän aterian.  Hinta menolle oli torstailennolla 55 € per henkilö.

Sukhothain lentoasema on jo sinänsä nähtävyys. Lentokoneen vierelle oli tullut avonainen autojuna, jossa oli istumapaikat kaikille kuin turistipaikoissa olevissa katujunissa. Lentoasema oli avoin ilman lasisia ikkunoita oleva bamburakennus. Missään ei ollut viitteitä että olisit lentoasemalla. Siellä ei ollut mitään matkatavarahihnoja, vaan laukut tuotiin suoraan autosta lattialle. Kokemus tämäkin olla näin eksoottisella lentoasemalla. 

Lentoasemalta oli ostettavissa kuljetus hotellille. Hotellimme sijaitsi Sukhothain vanhankaupungin vieressä ja sinne oli markaa noin 45 minuuttia. Matkan hinta oli 300 bathia hengeltä eli noin 7.50 €. 

Saavuttuamme lomakylään saimme huoneemme 10 minuuton odottelun jälkeen. Päätimme nukkua pois väsymyksemne, sillä olimmehan nousseet jo yöllä klo 3.00 aikoihin.

 

Tämän jälkeen päätimme mennä katsomaan nähtävyyksiä. Ensimmäinen niistä oli aivan hotellimme vieressä 50 m päässä. Tämä Wat  Chang Lom on edelleen rukouspaikkana toimiva kohde. Rakennuksen sivuilla on norsuja , mutta osa niistä on hajonnut vuosien saatossa. Samoin pylväät. 

Tämän jälkeen kävelimme vanhaanksupunkiin. Sää oli mitä kostein ja samalla kuuma. Vastaavaa tunnetta ja oloa minulla ei ole ollut sitten Brasilian Amazon viidakkoseikkailuni jälkeen. Onneksi oli pikkupyyhe mukana, jolla sain pyyhittyä kasvoilleni valuvaa hikeä. Paitani liimautui kiinni ihooni. 

Vanhankaupungin alue näytti suurelta kartan mukaan ja onneksi vuokrasinme polkupyörät. Polkupyörän vuokra oli yllättävän halpa. Vain 30 bathia per henkilö. Alle euron siis. Pyöräilimme vanhankaupungin portille, jossa piti ostaa pääsylippu 100 bath ja pyörästä 10 bathia per henkilö. Yhteensä alle 3 euroa per henkilö,  onneksi vuokrasimme pyörät, sillä alue tosiaankin oli valtavan suuri kokonaisuus. 

Puistoalueella oli paljon nähtävää. Monia historiallisia monumenttejä, buddhapatsaita, rakennuksia ym. Kävellessä tuli hiki, mutta kumma kyllä, pyöräillessä oli viileämpi kun ilmavirta raikasti. 

Oli tosi mukava pyöräillä siellä ja ihailla kauniita maisemia. Upeat viheriöivät ruohokentät, kauniita lampia, ikivanhoja isoja puitaja ja kaikki ne historialliset rakennukset. Wow, mikä kokemus! Pitää myöhemmin tutustua tähän paikan historiaan, niin saa siitä vielä enemmän irti.

 

Veikkaan, että harvempi Thaimaasa vieraillut on käynyt Sukhothaissa. Kuten itsekin niin muut enemmän turistipaikat houkuttelevat enemmän turisteja. Suosittelen lämpimästi matkaa tänne. Tämä on hyvä paikka rentoutua vaikka Bangkokin hulinasta ja ihmispaljoudesta. 

Kävinme lounaalla paikassa, jossa sain elänäni huonoimman uuniperunan. Peruna oli raaka eikä perunan laatu soveltunut uuniperunaksi. Paikallinen ravintolanpitäjä ei tahtonut ymmärtää mikä oli vialla. Lopulta selvisi perunan raakuus ja he keittivät paremmin, vaikka ei se paljoa paremmaksi tullut. 

Vastaavasti hotellissa illallisella sattui NIIN paljon virheitä ravintolan puolelta ettei sitä voi uskoa todeksi. Syynä oli se etteivät he osaa lainkaan englantia. Tuli vääriä annoksia, puuttui kuivattu valkosipuli, veivät riisini pois odotellessani toista ruoka-annostani ym. ym. Uskomaton ilta! Oli mukava vierttää se ystävieni seurassa. 

Seuraavana aamuna oli aika aamiaisen jäljeen lähteä paluumatkalle kohti Bangkokia. Päätimme tehdä matkan tällä kertaa bussilla. Olin enemmän kuin yllättynyt bussin korkeasta tasosta. Bussissa voi ladata puhelimensa ja tuolin saa lähes makuuasentoon. Vaikka matka kestääkin 8 tuntia niin se on sujunut hyvin hyvässä matkaseurassa ja postauksia kirjoitellessa. Nytkin tätä kirjoittaessa olemme vielä matkalla Bangkokiin. 

SUKHOTHAI The former capital of Thailand full of stunning history

A trip to Sukhothai's former capital. I've been in Thailand since 1995, dozens of times, but only now for the first time I was able to explore the north of Thailand.

Sukhothai is located north of Bangkok about 400 km away. By flying for about an hour and by bus for about 8 hours. We traveled by plane and Bangkok Airways was surprised by its services. They offer their passengers all the services of the lounge as well as offer a warm meal on short flights. The price for the trip was at a break-down rate of 55 € per person.

Sukhothai Airport is an attraction in itself. An open car train had been installed next to the airplane, which had seating places for all those on the street in the tourist resorts. The airport was open without a glass window bamboo building. There were no indications that you were at the airport. There were no luggage belts, but the bags were brought directly from the car to the floor. This is also the experience at this exotic airport.

Transfer to the hotel from the airport was available. Our hotel was located next to Sukhothai's old town and it was about 45 minutes to get there. The price of the trip was 300 baths per person, or about 7.50 €.

After arriving at the resort, we got our room 10 minutes after waiting. We decided to sleep away from our fatigue, for we had already risen at 3.00 pm.

After that we decided to go sightseeing. The first of them was right next to our hotel 50 m away. This Wat Chang Lom is still a place for prayer. The sides of the building have elephants, but some of them have broken down over the years. Similarly, the poles.

After that we walked to the Old Town. The weather was the most humid and hot. I have not had a similar feeling and feeling since my Brazilian Amazon jungle adventure. Fortunately, there was a small towel involved, which I wiped off my sweat sweat on my face. My paw was glued to my skin.

The Old Town area looked great on the map and fortunately we rent bikes. Bicycle rental was surprisingly cheap. Only 30 bathia per person. Below the euro. We cycled to the old town gate, where we had to buy an entrance ticket of 100 baths and a wheel for 10 bathia per person. A total of less than 3 euros per person, thankfully we rented the wheels, as the area really was a huge whole.

There was plenty to see in the park area. Many historic monuments, buddhist statues, buildings, etc. When walking, it became a sweat, but strangely enough, when cycling it was cooler when the airflow was crisp.

It was really nice to cycle there and admire the beautiful scenery. Gorgeous greenery with grass fields, beautiful ponds, ancient large trees and all the historic buildings. Wow, what an experience! Let's have a look at this place history later, so get it out of the way.

 

I bet that fewer Thaimaas have visited Sukhothai. As is the case, so many more tourist attractions will attract more tourists. I highly recommend the trip here. This is a great place to relax even if you are in Bangkok and in the crowds of people.

We went to lunch at a place where I got the worst oven pot of my life. The potato was raw and the potato quality was not suitable for baked potatoes. The local restaurant manager did not want to understand what was wrong. Eventually, the potato was crushed and they cooked better, though not much better.

Likewise, at the hotel dinner, there were so many mistakes from the restaurant that could not be believed. The reason was that they did not know English at all. There were false portions, missing dried garlic, took my rice away while I was waiting for another meal, etc. An unbelievable evening! It was nice to scroll it with my friends.

The next morning, it was time for the breakfast to go back to Bangkok. We decided to make a trip this time by bus. I was more than surprised by the high level of the bus. The bus can charge your phone and the chair gets almost reclining. Even if the journey lasts for 8 hours, it has gone well in a good traveling companion and when writing posts. Even now, as we write this, we are still on the way to Bangkok.

OSA 1.

Olen ollut Cebussa aikaisemmin kolme kertaa lyhyemmän ajan ja silloinkäsitys kaupungista jäi synkäksi ja harmaaksi. 

Liikkuminen ruuhkaisessa kaupunginkeskustassa on edelleen kaupungin ongelma. Yleensäkin suuret kaupungit Filippiineillä tulevat kokemaan pahoja ongelmia vielä liikenteen suhteen, jos asialle ei tehdä jotain. Ratkaisu olisi Bangkokin skylinen tyyppinen ratkaisu, mutta mistä rahoitus siihen? 

Nyt neljännellä kerralla päätin oikeasti tutustua kaupungin nähtävyyksiin ja parhaimmaksi ratkaisuksi ja myös kätevimmäkdi koin paiväretken, jossa meitä kuljetti upea, ilmastoitu auto. Kuljettaja vei meidät nähtävydeltä toiselle. 

Cebu - täällä onkin paljon nähtävää! 

Kävimme yhteensä kymmenellä eri nähtävyydellä ja noin puolet niistä oli erittäin mielenkiintoisia. Juuri ne kohteet, joissa paikallinen opas kertoi meille kohteen historiasta  tekivät ne vielä mielenkiintoisemmiksi. 

Minusta tälläinen päivän reissu tyylikkäässä ilmastoidussa henkilöautossa omalla kuljettajalla on hintansa väärti. Voit viipyä aina kussakin kohteess juuri haluamasi ajan ja jos kohde ei ole niin kiinnostava niin sen voi sivuuttaa nopeammin. Minusta tämä on tosi hyvä etu verrattuna järjestettyihin retkiin isossa bussissa. Suosittelen tätä vaihtoehtoa ja aion muissakin kohteissa mikäli se on suinkinmahdollista niin valita tämän vaihtoehdon.

1. kohde

TEMPLE OF LEAH

Tähän kohteeseen ajoimme korkealle vuorenrinnettä ja tie oli kiemurtelevä. Oli pakko katsoa eteenpäin. Näkymät ylhältä olivat mahtavat vaikka olikin hieman sumuista. Juuri tuo sumu esti hyvien kuvien saamisen alhalta kaupungista. Temppeliä peruskorjattiin parhaillaan ja siksi sen sisään ei valitettavasti päässyt. Kuitenkin itse paikalla oli nähtävää riittävästi. 

2. kohde

 TAOIST TEMPLE

Cebun BEVERLY HILLSissä

Seuraava kohde olikin sitten tosi suojattu. Olihan kyseessa paikallinen Cebun Beverly Hills. Näin he olicat itse nimenneet paikan vuoren rinteessä. Paikkaan pääsi vain tiukasti vartioidunja aidatun portin kautta. Kuljettajan piti jättää henkilöllisyystodistuksensa portille, josta se annettiin hänelle takaisin poistuttuamme paikalta. 

Taolainen temppeli oli korkeall rinteessä ja sinne veivät luonnon keskellä olleet portaat. Temppelialueella sinänsä oli paljon jo nähtävää. Se olikin minusta kiinnostavampi kuin itse temppeli. Valitettavasti temppelissä sisällä oli valokuvaaminen kielletty ja kiellon noudattamista vahti vartija. ( Satu, tällä kertaa en uhmannut kietoa 😂) Katsoin vain sisään ovensuusta, sillä kaikkien sisällemenijöiden ilisi pitänyt pestä kätensä 😱 ja käsienpesupaikka oli noin 50 m päässä. En viitsinyt lähteä käsien pesuun. Muuten ensimmäinen pyhä paikka missä minulta on vaadittu käsien pesua wnnen temppeliin sisäänastumista. Pitäköön temppelinsä ajattelin sillä herkellä. 😂

3. kohde

ALEGRE GUITARS FACTORY

Tämä paikka oli aika kaupallinen. Saimme kyllä opastuksen kuinka he valmistavat kitarat liimaamalla ilman nauloja ja materiaaleina oli puita kaikkialta maailmadta. Kävimme läpi mitä kaikkia soittimia oli saatavilla.

LAPU LAPU SHRINE in Lapu Lapu

Seuraavaksi päädyimme Lapu Lapu temppelin luokse ja sielä seuraamme lyöttäytyi vanha mies oppaaksi. Hänen puheestaan en saanut mitään selvää ja siksi pyysin että saisimme kierrellä ominpäin rauhassa alueella. Oli aurinkoinen paahtava päivä ja taivas oli lähes pilvetön. Lämpötila varmasti yli 30 C astetta. Kohteiden vierailun jälkeen on todella mukava mennä ilmastoituun viileään autoon viilentymään. 

Tämä upea patsas joen rannallamielytti silmääni. Hieno, lihaksikas soturi siinä valmistautumassa taisteluun. Mikse meillä ei ole tälläisiä patsaita missään Suomessa? 😂






  

Tästäkin patsaasta pidin varsinkin sen värikkyyden vuoksi. Be proud!

FORT SAN PEDRO

Cebu Fort San Pedro on sotilaspuolustusrakennus. Sen rakensivat espanjalaiset Miguel Lopez de Legazpin, Filippiinien päällikön alaisuudessa. Legazpin ja hänen retkensä saapumisen jälkeen rakennettu alkuperäinen linnoitus valmistettiin puusta. 

 

Nykyinen linnoitus rakennettiin vuonna 1738. Se on maan vanhin kolmikulmainen linnake.

I've been three times previously in Cebu shorter period of time and then the understanding was in a dark and gray.

Moving in a congested city center is still a city problem. In general, the big cities in the Philippines will also experience major problems with traffic, if something is not done. The solution would be Bangkok's skylish type of solution, but what's the funding for it?

Now, for the fourth time, I decided to really get to know the city's attractions and the best solution, and also the easiest time I ever had for a day trip, where we had a wonderful, air-conditioned car. The driver took us from sight to the other.

Cebu - here's a lot to see!

We visited a total of ten different attractions and about half of them were very interesting. Just where the local guide told us about the history of the site made them even more interesting.

I think that this day's trip to a stylish air-conditioned passenger car with a driver is worth the price. You can always stay the time you want for each item and if the item is not so interesting it can be ignored faster. I think this is a really good advantage compared to organized excursions in the big bus. I recommend this option and I will also target other options, if it is possible to choose this option.

1st item

TEMPLE OF LEAH

We drove to this place high on the mountainside and the road was squalid. I had to look forward. The views from above were awesome though there was a bit of fog. That is what the fog prevented from getting good pictures from below the city. The temple was under renovation and therefore unfortunately it did not get in. However, there was enough space to spot.

2nd item

 TAOIST TEMPLE

Cebu BEVERLY HILLS

The next destination was then really protected. It was in Cebu's local Beverly Hills. Thus they themselves have named a place on the mountain slope. The place only reached the strictly guarded and fenced gate. The driver had to leave his identity card at the gate from which he was given back after we left the place.

The Taoist Temple was high on the slopes and took the stairs in the middle of nature. There was much to see in the temple area as such. It was more interesting to me than the temple itself. Unfortunately, the temple inside was photographed forbidden and a ban on observance guard guard. (Satu, this time I did not bother waving 😂) I was just looking at the door, because everyone inside had to wash his hands 😱 and the handheld was about 50 m away. I did not want to go hands-washing. Otherwise, the first sacred place where I have been required to wash my hands in the temple of the Wnne. To keep my temple I thought it was delicious. 😂

3rd item

ALEGRE GUITARS FACTORY

This place was quite commercial. We got the guidance on how they made the guitars by gluing without the nails and the materials had trees from all over the world. We went through what all the instruments were available.

LAPU LAPU SHRINE in Lapu Lapu

Next we ended up with Lapu Lapu to the temple, and the next man came to join us as an old man guides. From his speech, I did not get anything clear and that's why I demanded that we could wander around in the area. There was a sunny bouncy day and the sky was almost cloudy. The temperature is certainly above 30 ° C. After visiting the items, it is really nice to go cool in the air-cooled car.

This gorgeous statue on the river shore reflects on my eyes. A fine, muscular warrior preparing to fight. Why do not we have such statues anywhere in Finland? 😂

  

I especially liked this statue because of its chromaticity. Be proud!

Item 5

FORT SAN PEDRO

Cebu Fort San Pedro is a military defense building. It was built by the Spaniards under Miguel Lopez de Legazp, the Philippine captain. After the arrival of Legazp and his tours, the original fortress was made of wood.

 

The current fort was built in 1738. It is the oldest triangular fortress in the country.
