BOHOL - päiväretki upealle saarelle

Seuraavana päätimme tehdä kokopäiväretken Boholin upealle saarelle. Retki alkoi jo aamulla klo 5.00, jolloin meidät noudettiin ilmastoidulla autolla hotellilta. Noudon hinnaksi oli meille ilmoitettu 800 pesoa, mutta kuski ottikin perillä vain 600 pesoa (10 €) 

Satamassa ostimme laivaliput (500 pesoa /hlö noin 8.50 €/ hlö) sitten pit toiselta luukulta vielä noutaa paikkaliput ja lopuksi maksaa 50 pesoa /hlö satamamaksu. Laivamatka kesti 2 tuntia ja saavuimme klo 9 maissa Boholin saarelle. Siellä odotti kuljettajamme meitä ja varsinainen nähtävyysretki pääsi alkuun. 

Chocolate hills

Aluksi oli vuorossa Chocolate hills ja matka sinne kesti ajaa tunnin. Päiväretken hinta vaihtelee aika lailla riippuen matkatoimistosta ja olin valinnut edullisimman joka oli 1.785 pesoa/henkilö. Samaa retkeä myytiin toisessa matkatoimistossa 2.600 pesoa/henkilö hintaan.  Tie Chocolate hillsille oli mutkainen ja mäkinen. Minulle tuli melkein pahaolo matkalla. Olin unohtanut hotellille nämä apurannekkeet, jotka estävät matkapahoinvoinnin. Nyt jatkossa ne kulkevat aina repussani, sillä tämä oli hyvä opetus. Matkan aikana useamman kerran toivoin, että ne olisivat mukanani. 

Pääsimme vihdoin chocolate hillsille ja näimme ensimmäiset kukkulat. Siellä saimme kuulla ettei henkilöautolla pääse kukkuloiden lähelle vaan mikäli haluaa niin piti vuokrata buggi (ATV). 

Niitä oli yhdelle hengelle 900 peson hintaan (15 €) ja kahdelle hengelle 1800 peson hintaan (30 €) vuokrasimme kahden hengen, sillä alunperin ei tarkotukseni ollut ajaa. 

Etukäteen ei oltu kerrottu, että tie perille oli kuoppainen, mutainen tie täynnä lätäköitä. Piti ajaa tosi varovasti, sillä tässä buggissa ei ollut lattiaa vaan kaikki mudan roiskumiset tulisivat suoraan jaloillemme. 

Upeat maisemat kohtasivat chocloate hillsillä. Oppaamme oli innostunut kikkailemaan puhelimella ja halusi ottaa meistä eri trikkikuvia. Sää oli kuuma ja aurinkoinen kukkuloilla. Kun kävelimme vauhdillä ylös kukkuloille niin tälläisen vanhan miehen pumpulle se kävi oikein kunnolla, mutta ylhällä onneksi oli hetki aikaa levätä. 

Seuraavaksi lähdimme Bohol tarsieriin katsomaan näitä isosilmäisiä puissa asuvia olentoja. Oli upea nähdä nämä eläimet läheltä. Koska oli aamu niin useimmat niistä nukkuivat puissa niin ettei kasvoja näkynyt, mutta onneksi näkyi myös muutamia hereillä olevia. 

Sää oli edelleen kuuma ja kostea. Tuntui kuin olisi ollut sademetsässä. Siitäkin minulla on kokemusta Brasilian Amazonin sademetsässä vieraillessani. 

Seuraavaksi vierailimme Man made forrestissa. Ilmeisesti Filippiineillä ei istuteta metsää niinkuin meillä Suomessa, koska se on täällä nähtävyytenä. Hmmmm

Vierailimme myös kahdessa eläintarhassa. 

Myös butterfly park kuului retkiohjelmaan. 

Lounaamme söimme jokilaivaristeilyllä elävää musiikkia kuunnellen ja välillä rantauduimme katselemaan filippiiniläisiä kulttuuriesityksiä. 

Seuraavana pääsimme näkemään uudemman joen ylittävän sillan. Vanhempi oli kuulemma liian vaarallinen. Siinä oli pohjalaudat jo lahonneet, että putoamisvaara oli liian suuri. 

Retkellämne näimme myös pari kirkkoa. 

Kaiken kaikkiaan meillä oli upea päivä täällä Boholin saarella. Tuli tunne, että tänne haluaisin tulla uudestaan. Olin yllättynyt kuinka vihreää ja rehevää luonto on tällä saarella. Täällä kuulemma on upeita hiekkarantojakin, joten loma täällä olisi monipuolinen. Tosin Filippiineillä on vielä paljon muitakin paikkoja näkemättä. 

Paluukuljetukselle satamasta hotellillemme Best Western Cebu Lex  oli ennakkoon ilmoitettu hinnaksi 800 pesoa, mutta kuljettajamme veloitti meiltä vain 500 pesoa.

BOHOL - a day trip to the stunning island

Next we decided to make a full day trip to Bohol's stunning island. The excursion started early in the morning at 5.00 when we were picked up by an air-conditioned car from the hotel. The cost of the price was 800 pesos, but the driver only received 600 pesos (10 €)

In the harbor, we bought a boat ticket (500 pesos / person about 8.50 € / person) then pit the other gate still pick up the place tickets and finally pay 50 pesos / person port fee. The voyage lasted 2 hours and we arrived at 9 o'clock on the island of Bohol. There our driver waited for us and the actual sightseeing tour started.

Chocolate hills

At first it was Chocolate hills and the trip took hours. The price of a day trip varies quite a bit depending on the travel agency and I chose the cheapest one that was 1,785 pesos per person. The same excursion was sold at another travel agency at 2,600 pesos per person. The road to the Chocolate Hills was curvy and Mäkinen. I almost got to cheat on the way. I had forgotten the hotel flaps that block the motion sickness. Now, in the future, they always go to my back, as this was a good lesson. During the trip several times I hoped they would be with me.

We finally reached the chocolate hills and saw the first hills. There we heard that a passenger car would not get close to the hills but if he wanted to rent a buggy (ATV).

They were for one person at a cost of 900 pesos (15 €) and for two people at a cost of 1800 pesos (30 €) we rented a double because I did not originally have my run.

It was not known beforehand that the road was a bumpy, muddy road full of puddles. We had to run really carefully, because this bugg had no floor but all the mud splashes would come straight to our feet.

Great scenery encountered on the chocloate hills. Our guide was enthusiastic about playing with the phone and wanted to take us on different trick pictures. The weather was hot and sunny on the hills. As we walked up the hills to the pumpkin of this old man, it was all right, but luckily, it was time to rest.

Next, we left Bohol to Tarsier to look at these big-sized trees living in trees. It was wonderful to see these animals close by. Since it was morning, most of them slept in the trees so that the faces were not visible, but luckily some of the awakened were also visible.

The weather was still hot and humid. It felt like it was in the rainforest. Also, I have experience in visiting the Brazilian Amazon rainforest.

Next we visited Man made forrest. Obviously, the Philippines do not plant forest as we do in Finland because it is here as a tourist attraction. hmmmm

We also visited two zoos.

But butterfly park was included in the excursion program.

We ate our lunch on a river cruise ship listening to live music, and we walked off to watch Filipino cultural performances.

Next we saw a new river crossing the river. The older man was said to be too dangerous. It had already been stolen from the groundbreaks that the risk of falling was too great.

On our trip we also saw a couple of churches.

All in all, we had a great day here on Bohol Island. You know I'm here to come again. I was surprised how green and lush nature is on this island. Here we have wonderful sandy beaches, so the vacation here would be versatile. Although there are still many other places to see in the Philippines.

The return journey from our port to our hotel at Best Western Cebu Lex was prepaid for 800 pesos, but our driver only charged us for 500 pesos.

Seuraavana on lento Iloilosta Cebun lentokentälle. Koska lento on vasta illalla, sain järjestettyä hotellin johtajan kanssa huoneemme pitämisen myöhään iltapäivään 25 € korvausta vastaan. Kello 14.00 asti olisimme saaneet olla korvauksetta, mutta en halunnut olla tuntitolkulla pienellä Iloilon lentokentällä. 

Täällä Iloilossa olisi voinut olla vielä pitempääkin, mutta sää on ollut pilvinen ja tässä hotellissa ei ole uima-allasta, niin on ihana päästä tuttuun Best Westernin Cebu lex hotelliin.   Palvelutasoltaan luokittelin sen kaikkein parhaaksi hotelliksi missä olen koskaan ollut. Aivan loistavaa palvelua sai tässä hotellissa. Näin se oli vielä vuosi sitten, harmikseni minun täytyy sanoa että ainakaan aamiaisella palvelu ei vakuuttanut. Viime heinäkuusta palvelun taso on LASKENUT, olen kehunut aikaisemmin tämän hotellin erinomaista palvelua jopa muillekin hotelleille. Enää en voi sitä tehdä. No vielä on heillä aikaa, koska viivymme viikon. Ehkäpä huomenna palvelu on parempaa ja saisimme vaikka kahvin pöytään, kuten viime heinäkuussa sain. Jos mennään kokonaan itsepalveluun, ollaan menossa väärään suuntaan. Lomalla asiakas kaipaa palvelua. 

Iloilon keskustasta on noin 20 -30 minuutin taksimatka lentokentälle. Sieltä taksi maksaa 500 pesoa eli noin 8.50€ ja täältä Seda Atria hotellita olen hintatason tietävänä saanut hinnaksi 400 pesoa, joka on noin 6.70 €. Peson arvo on laskenut noin 10 - 20 % euroon nähden vuoden parin sisällä, niin siksi täällä on entistä edullisempaa viettää kuukaudenkin.  Lentokentällä oli luovuttu kummallisen 200 peson per henkilö maksusta. Olen aina ihmetellyt miksi sitä perittiin Iloilon lentojentällä kun muilla lentokentillä sitä ei ole peritty. No onneksi ovat nyt luopuneet siitä. 

Cebun kaupunki ei ole  kaukana Iloilon kaupungista. Lentomatka kestää noin 40 minuuttia. Cebun lentokenttä on erillisillä viereisellä saarella ja taksimatka kestää keskustaan vajaan tunnin. Ruuhka-aikana voi mennä vajaa 2 tuntiakin. 

Lentomatka kesti vain puoli tuntia. Jotain käsittämätöntä tapahtui lennolla. Lentoemännät jakoivat vettä ja suklaakakkua. Olin todella hämmästynyt ja ihmeissäni siitä että koneen vasemmalle puolelle (kone pieni käytävän molemmin puolin cain kaksi istuinta vierekkäin) jaettiin vettä, mutta oikealle puolelle jaettiin sekä vesi että nämä kakkupalata. Minua todella jäi vaivaamaan tämä ja jäinkoneeseen viimeksi ja kysyin asiasta. Sanoin lentoemännälle ” I am doing a story about Philippine airlines and i was wondering what is your excuse only giving that chocolate cake to right side of the corridor? ” Lentoemäntä näytti pelokkaalta ja vaivautuneelta eikä oiken osannut sanoa siihen mitään. Kysyin, että minua kiinnostaa tietää mitä tapahtui? Oliko se vahinko vai mikä on syy että toinen puoli koneesta ei saanut tarjoilua. Siihen lentoemäntä vastasi että se oli vahinko. Mielestäni aika ihmeellinen vahinko. Miten voi unohtaa tarjoilla toiselle puolelle konetta? Samoin ihmettelin, että aika kulttejä ovat filippiiniläiset kun kukaan ei kyseenalaistanut toimintaa tai kysellyt trjoilun perään. Mietin, että Euroopan koneisssa joku varmasti olisi puuttunut asiaan ja vaatinut itselleen samat tarjoilut kuin toiselle puolelle konetta.  Empä ole ennen kuullut, että tälläistä olisi tapahtunut missää toisessa koneessa. Mihinköhän oli tarkoitus viedä ne kymmenet jakamatta jääneet kakkupalat?? Hmmm 😱

Toinen Philippines Airlinesin  toiminnassa minua ihmetyttänyt seikka oli että kun olimme menossa boardingkiinniin oli alkanut sataa kaatamalla. Meille annettiin vaan sateenvarjot ja saimme hyppiä vesilammikoissa kastellen kenkämme kun lentokone oli kaukana kentällä. Samoin kun annoimme koneeseen mennessä pois sateenvarjot niin ennen koneeseen menoa ehti kastua. Kyllä olisi pitänyt olla yleisnäkemystä ja laittaa meidät vapaaseen putkeen ja siirtää lentokone putkeen, jotta emme olisi noin pahast kastuneet tai edes ovensuulle järjestää bussikuljetus koneen luokse.

 

Flight to CEBU to the next destination

Next is the flight from Iloilo to Cebu Airport. Since the flight is  in the evening, I arranged with the hotel manager for a late afternoon of our room for € 25 for a fee. Until 14.00, we could have been without compensation, but I did not want to be on an hourly trip to a small Iloilo airport.

Here in Iloilo could have been even longer, but the weather has been cloudy and this hotel does not have a swimming pool, so it's wonderful to get to the familiar Best Western Cebu lex hotel. The level of service I ranked it the most as the best hotel in which I've ever had. Just got a great service at this hotel. That is how it was a year ago, I hate to say that at least not at breakfast the service did not convince me. From last July the level of service has DROPPED, I have previously praised the hotel's excellent service even to other hotels. I can not do it anymore. Well, they still have time because we're having a week stay. Maybe tomorrow, the service is better and we could get coffee to our table, as I did last July. If we go in hotels completely to self-service, we are going in the wrong direction. On vacation, the customer needs service.

Iloilo center is about 20 -30 minutes taxi ride to the airport. From there, a taxi will cost 500 pesos, or about € 8.50 and from here Seda Atria price hotellita I know received a price of 400 pesos, which is about 6.70 €. The value  of the peso has fallen by about 10 to 20% over the euro in a couple of years, so it is even cheaper to spend a month here. The airport had abandoned the odd 200 pesos per person for a fee. The city of Cebu is not far from the city of Iloilo. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes. Cebu Airport is on a separate adjacent island and a taxi ride to the center takes less than an hour. During peak hours you can go for less than 2 hours.

The flight took only half an hour. Something incomprehensible happened on a flight. The flight hosts shared water and chocolate cake. I was really amazed and wondered that water was shared on the left side of the machine (a small cockpit on both sides of Cain's two seats side by side), but water and water were distributed to the right. I really missed this and the ice machine last time and asked about it. I told the flight attendant "I'm doing a story about Philippine airlines and I was wondering what's your excuse for just giving that chocolate cake to the right side of the corridor? Another thing in Philippines Airlines that made me wonder was that when we were going to boarding, it had begun to rain by pouring. We were given umbrellas and we got to jump in the water pools while drenched our shoes when the aircraft was far away on the ground. Similarly, when we removed the umbrellas by the machine, before going to the machine we got wet.
